Exciting Childcare Changes in 2026
Happy New Year from all of us at Read2Grow Early Learning Childcare! As we welcome 2026, we’re excited to share some fantastic news for families across Australia. Starting January 5, 2026, the Australian Government’s new “3 Day Guarantee” will make subsidised childcare more accessible and affordable than ever.
What’s the 3 Day Guarantee?
The 3 Day Guarantee ensures that eligible families can access at least 3 days (72 hours) of subsidised childcare per fortnight, even if they don’t meet the usual work or study requirements. In simple terms, the activity test will no longer apply to the first 72 hours of care, giving families more flexibility and support.
Families who work or study more hours can still access up to 100 hours of subsidised care per fortnight, and First Nations children automatically receive 100 hours of subsidised care each fortnight.
